How does it work? Each detective is provided with a clues sheet and treasure map. You must successfully complete the clues which will lead you to draw an X on the map. At this location you will find the treasure. The treasure is a great city centre pub with drinks deals and discounts perfect for an Edinburgh party. The clues are carefully chosen to keep you on your toes(they range from code breaking to riddles to orienteering work) but also of varying difficulty so every member of the team can get involved and help solve them.
In order to locate where to place the X on the map detectives must complete the Codebreaker which is a series of 5 photos of locations on your hunt. At each of these locations a number or letter is hidden on the photo, you must locate this to reveal the letter/number and use them as co-ordinates to draw an X on your map!
The complete Edinburgh day out; the two routes take in all of the cities historic sights and famous landmarks crossing both the New and Old towns. However even if you feel you know the city well you will be sure to find something new as it wanders down many a mysterious back alley and explains the stories and histories behind the buildings and areas as you go.
A unique feature of The Great Game makes it perfect for an Edinburgh party is the race aspect; there are two routes in the city which both start and finish at the same points. They are of equal length so its possible to team up and race to the treasure! Just make sure there's a drink waiting for the losing team!
The treasure hunt pack also includes a prize envelope only to be opened at the treasure. This contains a brief history of the surrounding area and some brain teasers and puzzles if you aren't finished testing yourself yet or if you didn't think you knew the city well enough.
